Apple Welcome Sign

Well, August is over and it's time to put away the summer decorations and start decorating for fall. I thought I'd start out my fall decorating by making a welcome sign for our front door.

I started with a board that was about 11" x 5.5".  I drilled two holes in the top corners, painted it white and applied this vinyl to create a cute background pattern.
Then, I painted the board beige and removed the vinyl.
I could have left it like that, but I wanted the background a little more subdued.  So, I sanded off some of the beige
and painted a bright red border.
Then, I added my vinyl.  I threaded some jute through the holes and tied on some cute matching ribbon, raffia, and burlap strips.
And now, I have a cute door decoration, perfect for September!
Come back for the free digital file to create your own!
