Snow Gear Organizer

Last week, we finally got enough snow to play in. Snow means snow pants, boots, gloves, scarves, coats and hats all come out so the kiddies can play. But, once the playing is done, I am usually left with a big pile of snow gear that doesn't get put away. Since I am trying to be more organized, I thought this would be a great excuse to make a snow gear organizer.
I had the wood leftover from an old table top. First, I painted it blue and then a coat of silver that I lightly sanded off.
These baskets were also left over from another project. I thought they would be great for hats and gloves (or any other items that don't hang).
Then, I added some hooks at the bottom, perfect for scarves and snow pants.
Finally, I added some vinyl lettering just to make it a little more fun.
This is located by our back door, which is where the kids go out to play.
Since, this is stuff that the kids only wear when they play in the snow, it will be nice to have it separate from our everyday outerwear. No more digging through coats and backpacks to find their snow pants and gloves!

Great idea, I struggle with keeping all of this organized and finding a coat hook that will hold all the coats, backpacks, snowpants, etc. I like the idea of keeping them separate. Thanks for sharing!

Oh my goodness, this is great! I live in Jackson Wyoming and have been wondering what to do with my "mud room" area during snow season!

I would love it you would post this to SaMiE's first ever SURPRISE linky party, found here: http://www.samiedesigns.blogspot.com/p/samies-surprise-linky-parties.html

Thanks!

You guys got your first snow and we got our first sets of bathing suits at our local Target store here in North Florida. Sometimes I think the merchandise buyers in Florida are a little nuts!

This idea would work great in warmer climates to hold lunch boxes and hoodies!

Great idea, I love the baskets. Snow gear takes up so much room and this is a great way to keep it seperate.

What a clever idea! We don't get much snow around here, but I love this organizer and might incorporate it in another way! :D

I love the baskets! I don't have room for the whole projects, but I think the basket idea will work. Thanks for the inspiration!

Oh, brilliant!! My daughter is only one, but we have already amassed more winter gear (for Michigan) than I have space to store for our current solutions. I currently have hooks on a small shelf, but adding baskets somewhere OTHER than the floor would be a great space-saver!

Following you now ~ I'd love to see you drop by Happy Hour Projects and link up at my Friday party sometime!

I love this idea. Can you tell me where you found those baskets? I have looked every place (it feels like) and have not been able to find something that would fit and work as well as these.

Thanks for sharing!
